The Farmhouse Restaurant
The Farmhouse Restaurant
Welcome to The Farmhouse Restaurant in Gilbert Arizona, a local favorite since 1989. Originally located in a old farmhouse 2 miles south of the current location on what is now the Farmhouse Village. Deciding to move the party, we bought our own building in The Heritage District of Gilbert, AZ. It has been an exciting adventure; we discovered adobe walls and wide planked floors. The adobe bricks were built on site in 1918 and consequently we have a cellar full them.
Growing up in Arizona with my parents(Milli’s Grandparents) was a continuous party, front & back door swinging back and forth as friends and relatives dropped by for plenty of good food and drink. My mother and dad have since passed on, but they were both cooks. My dad was the outside cook. He masoned a fireplace and attached to the side an outdoor bread and oven grill. He also had an old wood burning stove and an old refrigerator he converted to a smoker. He smoked roasts and turkeys, baked incredibly good bread in his oven and made tamales on the wood burning stove.
Mother liked this arrangement with his mess outside because she had her own agenda going on inside. Lunches were her specialty and when you sat down to eat you had a feeling that you were royalty.
This mother/daughter team with friends and relatives opened the restaurant in 1989. Since then, the “Valley of the Sun” has been good to us. We’ve been featured on Channel 3, 10 & 12 as part of their morning shows; we’ve also received numerous awards from the local media, including the Arizona Republic, Tribune and New Times. According to United Airlines we are among the top 25 things to do while in Arizona. Our best reward though is your return visit.
