Our Story

Mom (sylvia) and Daughter (Milli) both owners in photo taken in or aroun 1963 in front of Grandma Joys house farmhouse gilbert

Well most of you know we moved, it's hard to believe it's nearly 15 years (30 yrs in business) since we bought and renovated this building. It was an exciting adventure; we discovered adobe walls, wide planked floors and tall ceilings with rafters. The adobe bricks were built on site in 1918 and
consequently we have a full cellar...fun!

Growing up in Arizona with my parents (Milli's
Grandparents) was a continuous party, front & back door swinging back & forth as friends and family dropped by for plenty of good food and drink. My mother and dad have since passed on, but they were both cooks. My dad was the outside cook. He masoned a fireplace and attached to the side an outdoor bread oven and grill. He also had an old wood burning stove and an old refrigerator that he had
converted to a smoker. He smoked roasts and turkeys, baked incredibly good bread in his oven and made tamales on the wood stove.
Mother liked this arrangement with his mess outside because she had her own agenda going on inside. Lunches were her specialty and when you sat down to eat you had the feeling that you were royalty.

This mother-daughter team, with friends and family, opened the restaurant in 1989. Since then, the Valley of the Sun has been good to us. We were featured on Channel 3,10,12 as part of their morning shows; we've also received numerous awards
from the media, including Arizona Republic, Tribune, New Times and several on-line sites. According to United Airline's in-flight magazine we are among the top 25 things to do in Arizona. But our best reward is your return visit.

Thank you for your continued support and we look forward to seeing you again soon.
